Scoping Officially moved to Fall – Comments open 120 days

An article published last Friday by goskagit.com (link here) confirmed details of a recent change at the Department of Ecology site for the Gateway Pacific Terminal project (link here) . This followed a recent comment by Shorelines Planner Steve Sundin to the Bellingham City Council that scoping would likely commence “at the end of August” and a previous Whatcom County Council action during EIS contract review asking for the extension to 120 days for comments. This will be a relief to many organizations who were concerned the combination of the planned summer schedule and shorter comment period would be detrimental to citizen participation.
